I have been making this pie for decades. It is the best apple pie recipe I have ever had. Fall is apple time and I begin to think of how to work in an apple pie night.

3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
3 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
1/2 cup butter
1 Cup brown sugar, packed
2 pie crusts
1/8 cup of milk
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Lay a pre-made pie crust in a deep dish pie pan. Put the apples in the pie crust (that is not cooked) and sprinkle on half of the cinnamon.
Mix the melted butter, brown sugar, egg and the remaining cinnamon until creamy.
Take the second pie crust and cut cute shapes in the crust with your seasonal cookie cutters to provide venting for the pie. Cinch the edges of the crust. The easiest method is using a fork. But there are other more decorative ways. Before putting the pie in the oven lightly brush milk over the top of the pie crust.
Bake 45 minutes.
This is a super, fun recipe to cook with children. If you use an apple, peeler, corer, slicer they will be in heaven. If I pull mine out the younger two have been known to fuss over who is going to get to use it.
