When I first met Virginia I knew I wanted to be her friend. She was so kind, funny and sweet that I knew it was the right recipe for a buddy. Taylor and I were “just friends” when we met her and we asked she and her (brand new) husband if they would start a Bible Study. That grew into way more than this post will share. There is definitely more to come on this group in the Gathering section. Little did I know that relationship would still be going strong 20 plus years later.
But I am going to suffice it to say this is a recipe she used to gather us for years. People would come through the door of her house rejoicing at the smell of Wassail. If you were late too bad…you probably missed your chance at a cup. We all loved it.
If you need an easy drink to serve to a group this one is perfect. It can be doubled and maybe even tripled in a large percolator.
1 gallon of apple juice
1/2 gallon of cranberry juice
1/2 brown sugar
4-5 cinnamon sticks
1 T of whole cloves
In the basket of the percolator place the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves.
Pour both of the juices into the canister of the percolator. Add the brown sugar and stir.
Place the basket and lid in place and turn it on. Wait until the light turns green and you will know
it is done.

If you would like a snack to go with this wassail some warm sausage balls would be perfect. These are great made ahead and easy to warm and serve.
